District Governor Bio:Governor Wm. Kent Clovis Kent grew up in Cushing, graduated from OSU-Stillwater, and then moved to Stroud in 1979 where he owns his own business there as a State Farm Insurance Agent. Kent joined the Stroud Lions Club only a few weeks after moving and setting up his business in Stroud and has remained an active member since that time, serving as club treasurer for 16 years before serving as president in 1996-97. He has also served as club secretary, zone and region chairperson several times. Kent was the Vice District Governor and then District Governor for District 3-H in 1998-2000 and served as Council Chair for MD3 in 2000-01. As Council Chair he was on the campaign team for Pat Shurley for International Director when she was elected in 2001. Kent started attending the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum in 1992 and has not missed a forum since 1999; he has also been a Forum presenter. He has served on every State Committee and every State Board, serving two terms as the President of the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Lions Eye Bank and MD3 Retention Chairman from 2001-2006. He was the Chairman of the OK Lions MHSU Committee in 2006-07, and served as District 3-H Coordinator for Campaign SightFirst II. Campaign Sightfirst was a real inspiration to him and he became a Melvin Jones Fellow with that program, and with Campaign Sightfirst II has become a progressive Melvin Jones. Kent is also a Key Member and has received several International President Certificates and two International Leadership Medals and one Presidential Medal. Kent is also the Chairman for the Stroud Planning Committee (City of Stroud) and is Past President and long time Board member of the Stroud Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Lincoln County Industrial Authority Board and was its President for several years. He has also served on several Boards for his local church, served as Finance Committee Chairman for two years and is currently the Building and Grounds Chairperson. Kent has also been serving on the Board of Directors for the Cushing Country Club and is in his third year as President on that board. Kent is married to Carolyn and they have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
